This 5K training plan is designed to help beginner runners
complete their first 5K. The program is a walk/run program that
is structured, progressive, and includes two functional strength
workouts a week. Embrace the walk breaks. Taking walk breaks
means that you can run better for longer periods of time. As your
body fatigues, your running form will inevitably suffer. Taking a
few walk breaks allows your body to preserve some energy, absorb
less impact, and recover a bit, allowing you to hold good run form
for longer. When you are just getting started, it is important to
focus on quality over quantity to stay injury free!
